The more you do before we arrive, the faster (and cheaper) moving day goes. Here's what our crew leads wish every customer knew.
The week before
- Read your quote and our policies. Double-check your inventory list, the flights of stairs, and whether there's an elevator at both ends. Mention anything that needs special handling (antiques, marble or glass) or tricky disassembly (storage bed frames, big armoires).
- Book the elevator and get your COI sorted if either building needs a Certificate of Insurance. Our quote form asks about this.
- Buy book boxes. Heavy stuff goes in small boxes, never in big boxes or suitcases.
The night before
- Empty every piece of furniture: dressers, bookshelves, desks.
- Pack and seal every box. If you booked partial or full-service packing, skip this step. We bring the boxes and pack on site.
- Stack boxes in the middle of each room or by the front door so the crew can start loading right away.
- Take care of jewelry, cash, and other valuables yourself. We can't pack or move them.
When the crew arrives
- Your crew lead walks through with you to go over everything.
- Boxes go on the truck first. Then furniture gets padded, taped, and shrink-wrapped as needed, and loaded.
- Stay within earshot or reachable by phone. We'll probably have a question or two.
- Before we leave the pickup, do a final walk-through so nothing gets left behind.
At your new place
Tell your crew lead which room each thing goes in. Once everything's unloaded, we do the paperwork, take payment, and get out of your way. Do one last walk-through to make sure everything arrived in good shape.
Then take a break. The unpacking can wait until tomorrow. ;)
